Q) What is the Yeshiva about?
The Yeshiva was created based on core principles that the Lubavitcher Rebbe gave over in his lifetime. These include Ahavas Yisroel, serving Hashem with joy and strengthening ones faith.
Ahavas Yisroel- We instill in our students the importance of loving and caring for every single Jew no matter what type or background.
Serving Hashem with Joy- We pay special attention to making the atmosphere in the Yeshiva one of simcha, through instilling the love of prayer and learning in each student. Once a week a conduct a “fabraigen”- which is a time where we sit together sing niggunim and tell inspirational stories. Each of the students discuss things they learned or thought about throughout the week in a warm and , caring and spirited atmosphere.
Strengthening ones faith- Living in such a complex world is no easy task for the most muture person. How difficult is it for a teenager trying to find his way to a life of fulfillment, happiness and success?! The Baal Shem Tov and his talmidim were able to awaken many Jews from spiritual slumber through their teachings .Through these same teachings, we are able to help develop the students Emunah (belief) in Hashem and himself.
Q) What does “Meorot “mean?
It means to shine. We hope that after our student’s experience, not only will he glow as a Torah Jew but shine onto others, living a life of a walking Kiddush Hashem.
Q) Please explain to me what makes this Yeshiva unique?
Our personal relationship with our boys is truly unique. There will be at the most a teacher to student ratio of 1 to 5. Rabbi Malkin, who outside Yeshiva is a sought out counsler, makes a point to speak with each student a few times a week. It is interesting to point out that the Rebbe didn’t establish synagogues or houses of study throughout the world rather homes “beit Chabad”.He felt that the best way for growth in learning and davening was through a warm atmosphere similar to a home.We at Meorot are like a big family treating our students like our own children and get nachas from seeing them grow.
Does the Yeshiva provide health insurance?
Certainly, after acceptance of the student, there will be a form which you will receive containing the necessary information.
What kind of dress code is there in the Yeshiva?
We require our students to dress in a manner appropriate for one learning in a Torah atmosphere. No shorts, jeans, sleeveless shirts, or inappropriate sayings on any article of clothing. Collared shirts preferable. (Standard dress code).
Does the Yeshiva provide the students with blankets pillows or sheets?
Everything except for sheets is provided.
Does my son have access to Email or internet on the yeshiva premises?
Yes, we have also installed in the internet system a program which blocks all sites that it feels are not fitting for the students.
Are the students reccomended to have a cell phone? If so where do i take care of that?
For security and convience purposes we require that all our students have cell phones. The yeshiva works together with the "talk n save" cell phone company, They give us special deals and are recommended for our students. Login to www.talknsave.net Click on " student deals", then click on our yeshiva name and you will be able to order everything on line.
